In Swahili, Sarabi means "mirage" or "illusion", perfectly capturing the blurred lines between what’s real and what’s not in the lives of the characters. As their secrets unravel, their search for truth becomes as elusive as chasing a mirage. 

Here are the primary characters that bring this gripping drama to life: 

Annabel 

A fiercely successful lawyer in her 40s, Annabel is also a single mother raising two daughters, Sheila and Bernadette. Beneath her tough exterior lies a compassionate heart scarred by her father’s mysterious disappearance and the betrayal of her first love. Estranged from her mother after being forced to abandon her music dream, Annabel finds herself back home when her mother falls ill. Annabel is determined to save the family’s legacy: Vuno Zuri coffee estate. 

McOdimba  

Once a humble coffee picker at Vuno Zuri, McOdimba has built an empire as a successful coffee marketer. Now he is the co-owner of Mac Holdings with his wife Lena. He carries deep wounds from childhood rejection and a painful breakup with Annabel, his first love. His relentless pursuit of success leads him to make risky decisions that threaten his company. He is quite demanding of his son Alfie and his relationship with him becomes strained. 

Lena  

Lena is a smart, powerful and fiercely protective of her family, especially her son, Alfie. She is McOdimba’s wife and co-owner of Mac Holdings. She’s a devoted mother to Alfie and is not afraid to stand up to McOdimba when it comes to defending her son.  

Sheila  

She is Annabel’s first-born daughter and is a talented musician determined to make it on her own terms. She is kind-hearted, empathetic and passionate about using her gift to help others.  

Alfie  

Alfie is Lena and McOdimba’s son and a recovering alcoholic. He struggles to keep up with his father’s strict expectations and haunted by his past mistakes.  

Bernardette 

She is Annabel’s youngest daughter who lights up every scene with her energy and ambition. She represents the modern "rich kid" lifestyle, immersing herself in the vibrancy of city life and aims to be a social media influencer. But behind the glamorous vlogs and social media posts lies a young woman still searching for her place in the world. 

Ngano Jnr  

Fresh from the United States, Ngano Jr. is on a mission to reclaim the wealth and status he believes his family lost unjustly. Rejected by Annabel and humiliated by McOdimba in his youth, Ngano Jr. is still driven by revenge 26 years later.
